Turn a small corner of your space into a gift shop-like wonder

My favorite part about visiting a Modern Museum of Art is perusing the gift shop afterwards. I love the vibrant colors of the knick knacks and merchandise. Not to mention the bold colors of all the books and stationary supplies. I've noticed that every time I visit one, it brings me a lot of joy and creative inspiration which got me to thinking...why shouldn't I design a small space in my home to look like a museum gift shop?

You know what? Hell yeah

BUILD YOUR BOOK COLLECTION

The first step is to build out your book collection. If you're a book lover and already have an impressive collection, GREAT! I find that estates sales, flea markets, and thrift shops are great places to source really cool and unique used books. Online resellers are also options for finding sought-after used books for a fraction of its original price.

STYLING YOUR BOOK SHELF

Play with colors and sizing and see how they sit with each other. I'm not a fan of color-coordinating books or reversing them so all the pages give off a neutral aesthetic. Books have their own unique artwork and character and that should be put on display. I also love the option of using acrylic book stands to switch up how the books are showcased. And don't forget styling them with your favorite candles, plants, trickets, portraits, artwork, and more.
