Embrace the gloomy forecast with practical yet stylish ways to getting dressed

Let’s be real: grey skies and wet roads aren't exactly the most inspiring weather forecast for getting dressed. On mornings where it would pour incessantly, I would stare blankly into my closet oblivious of what to wear or even where to start. This notion of allowing the weather to dictate my mood and style choice had to go. Reframing my mindset to equally embrace inclement conditions as I do sunny days became my new point of view. It was only when I started investing in a few fashion-y, rainproof essentials as simple as a water-resistant trench coat or stylish rubber boots is when rainy days actually made me excited to pull out these reserved-for-the-rain pieces and celebrate being able to wear them for the day.

THE RAINPROOF (FOOLPROOF) ESSENTIALS
The first step is to not let the cloudy forecast cloud your sense of style. Just because it’s wet out doesn’t mean you need to dress down or look sloppy. By pairing functional items with fashion-forward pieces, planning a cute outfit can turn grey days around. Even if you feel like wearing sweatpants, go for a wide leg silhouette and balance it with an elevated knit and long coat, chunky earrings, and a fresh cap. With that said, let's dive into my must-have pieces and style inspiration to bring a bit of shine to your rainy day outfits.
Must-haves: a good coat, lug-sole boots, an oversized scarf that also works as a balaclava.
